It seems tourists skip this place for some reason. The place makes you feel like you traveled to the past (in a good way). The food is cheap and great. Had chilaquiles verdes with a coffee and it was great. The pastries are good and taste very homemade. Sometimes it gets busy and you can wait a little. I’d be back here 100%

Great service and attention from the service crew. Best of all, this restaurant satisfied my craving for Tamales Oaxaqueño around the Centro Historico area.

I'm not just handing out 5 stars just because I'm a tourist. We were the only tourists there during lunch. Large diner-style restaurant with extensive menu. We tried taco, chicken soup and tamale (sorry don't remember the Spanish names). They were all tasty and cheap. Mariachi band (of two) came in and played, adding to the experience. The waiters were very attentive and patient.

I have so much love for this place. Sort of a diner but largely focused on Mexican dishes. I had the Plato Economicos 11 — Bistec chilaquiles. My wife had Plato 12. Vegetarian options and good for eggs! No frills but friendly and efficient service.

I first came to this restaurant over 10 years ago and was impressed by the easygoing atmosphere, the excellent service, and the delicious food. I was just in CDMX again last week, and went to Cafe La Pagoda four times in the five days I was there. The quality of food and service has not changed one bit. I highly recommend it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. There’s usually a wait to be seated no matter what time of the day you go, but it’s well worth it. You will not be disappointed! Tip: Don’t forget to try the sopa azteca and the café con leche.
